    2.0 TFSI info

After damaging the K series in the racing midget I look after we fancy ALOT more power!

Looked at all sorts even Honda but I can get hold of a very low milage 2.0T 200 bhp motor. I recon they are cheap power and not too heavy 90kgs naked. Looking at 034 with a GT3071 they make 350bhp.
Anyone had a play with them? VEMS? as its for racing I will have to fab a load of stuff dry sump, bellhousing, flywheel/clutch.
Not sure on a gearbox as the caterham 6 speed we have won't cope with the torque. Would like a quaife sequential..
I know the S3 version has more power with K04 and bigger injectors but has it got better internals? My etka has stopped updating so carn't go from that at the mo..

I'm sure someone here will know more...

    Cheers

    Rob..

a friend of mine is running one with 400 hp in a seat leon copa edition.
    Goes like a rocket.
Install a s3 turbo and ic and you are good for 330hp.
downpipe and exhaust is a must.

these are very good engines, but have no idea if vems would be of any extra benefit other than tuning yourself. The new motronics are brilliant to tune, or so i have heard and dont have maf problems, as they take the rs4 maf and its a done deal

If you look at apr they offer a heavy duty fuelpump for 2,0 tfsi.
if you change the exhaust incl. dp mout the S3 IC and a good map you
          should be happy.
          Stay with motronic.

S3 version is better internals, so get one of those unless you don't mind spending £££.

I wouldn't bother with aftermarket management, just use the original ECU with the immobiliser killed.

Fun idea... I'd also suggest sticking with Motronic as the likes of MRC would be capable of a nice setup for you and keep it all nice and safe/robust for racing purposes. As for clutch and gearbox - what about the 01E variant used on Porsche 928/944 for RWD application - or go all out and build the world's 1st midget quattro

Last year I drove a mapped Edition 30 GTi and was genuinely amazed how quick it was. Never really been a fan of the fizz bang 2.0t lump but tuning potential is there fo sho.

Might be worth speaking with Chris down at Regal in Southhampton, they run a silly quick mk5 GTi (450+bhp).

WHat I was wanting was not start with the cars loom. ecu. It will weigh a ton and have a million things we don't need. ALso car looms fail really quick on race cars. Need a aircraft spec loom which arn't bad. The K series loom was £250. Very easy to install and never went wrong.
I have spoken to Mountune who do the Palmer Audi engines (1.8t) they can supply ecu with four switchable maps Quaili, race, wet, pace car. Not sure what ecu they use. But they want £6000 for soting a BAM ready to go(with dry sump), not too bad but the 2.0 seems a better idea.
Can vems maps be switchable on the fly?
Would it need a maf? Just need the bare minimum to get most power/reliability. Knock sensors would be nice.

no maf required, switchable maps on the fly...hmmm marc prefers not, but others say it can be done, only 2 options though

Now that sounds like a plan fella,oh spending spree. I know of a S3 lump with ecu, wiring loom,clock(17k) transponder and key, but no turbo or manifold but if you stick a GT28R on they do about 400bhp. Storm development do the GT28R conversion
Just some finishing touches to do now

                              Stay with motronic on that.
You can run 600+ whp on newer motronics without any issues, because you can use any MAF (they have a maf linearization table).
It also has EGT monitoring, wideband monitoring and launch control (can be activated easily).
