Has anyone got any detailed information about the 10v Turbo KG engine...?

I'm looking mainly at it's compression ratio, piston crown cc and turbo/intercooler set up etc... Also the set-up of the crank timing and knock sensor... We've got a KG lump here, and the piston crowns are markedly different to the WR, it ran a water cooled KKK24K and has two crank/timing sensors on the front of the block over the flywheel. Additionally, it appears to have a knock sensor in the head mid-way along the block.

We're looking, in time, to set the (rebuilt) engine up with EFi and any information will be gratefully received.

    Kind regards

KG engine came in the Audi 200's mine was a 1986 model. I went the EFI route with an 034 ECU and used a welded on crank trigger wheel on the front pulley. The original crank trigger sensors are the same as found on the later 20v engines but uses the hall sender in the dizzy as the reference window for starting instead of a cam position sensor as found on the later 20v's.
Still got the block, pistons, cam and head of one I sold the pistons to someone doing a G60 oettinger 16v engine that I build up as they were the same dimensions but stronger than found in the 1.7 blocks that the Oettinger was based on.
Compression ratio iirc is 8:1 but can double check that in my data book after the kids half term.
Knock sensor is an old style one that needs to be screwed into the block at exactly 20Nm probably still have one of those aswell.
Anything else prob best to pm me as dont always return to old posts.

Just found some old pictures of the build up thread they can be found here

      http://s44.photobucket.com/albums/f4...200/?start=all

      and here

      http://s44.photobucket.com/albums/f4...udi%20200/EFI/

No particular order but shows a modified intake with Idle air control build into it, TPS sensor mod onto the throttle body etc...

Unfortunately after a full restoration during a mapping session an o ring on the billet fuel rail fittings let go and I miserably stood by the side of the M1 at 10 at night watching the car go up in flames. Couple of weeks later 034 came out with a new and improved fuel rail which had a recess in it to make sure the o-ring doesn't fail!

        That's superb information, lovely...

The chap who's building the engines (the WR, and prep for the KG/Rallywreck lump) is a G60 specialist so this will be common ground for him... The C/R will be most appreciated, as he's warming up the paraffin and the pippet to do a cylinder head cc test... We're certainly erring on the side of the KG pistons matched with the kkk24k and EFi... The type 85 gearing will suite quick pick-up and torque rather than big boost and lag... The possibility of running on wet/muddy or mixed surface also makes around 300bhp with the above, and low gearing preferable... But understanding the KG piston crown and control is key really. We need to build the engine to make the best torque/boost as low as possible matched to the gearing, but, don't have a running KG to reference too.

        Thanks in advance

KG is supposedly the strongest of the 10v shortblocks.
