Holy moley did this thread go wrong.
If you want more boost at part throttle, it's a matter of 5 minutes.

Send me your current boost chip file, and I'll send you a file back, which will behave exactly like these "oh-so-cool" boost controllers. And you will have full boost at part throttle.

If you are running MTM chip, it runs pretty lean already.
If you put on a different EBC and dial in more boost than is mapped, you will get knock low down. Instantly.

By consistent, you mean, crappy fuel economy, lowering the life of the turbo (because you get high boost all the time, even when the engine is restricted by the throttle plate) and killing proper throttle mapping?
        Cool.

        Wrong.
Stock ECU has nothing to do with it. Only mapping. You can map stock ecu to behave the same "on/off" way. But that's not done for a good reason. Like extending the life of the turbo, providing a more useful throttle response and saving fuel.
Best work around is to use a 1.9 bar spring which gives you 0.9 bar boost at part throttle on the stock ecu
No. That's a crappy workaround for people, who don't know how to map N75 duty.

by not letting motronic think too much you get a stable car with much better performance.
No, you ruin your engine. Everything is fine and dandy, until your fuel pump starts going, you get bad fuel or something similar. Where stock motronic will instantly reduce your boost to 0.4 bar with excessive knock, but with your "cool" controller, you will just keep on running 1.2 bar or more.

You guys remind me of people who take motronic, take the MAF, fit it in a bigger tube, fit larger fuel injectors and adjustable FPR, then complain that it runs like ****.
Then swap to vems, blow up an engine or two, and say that everything is bad...
I think there is a term for that - "ricing it up". Like when my friend was buying an urs4 from some gangsta guy, who pointed out the wastegate and said "screw this screw to make the car go fast" (because the car was in limp mode all the time, due to TPS being disconnected).

            LOL.
Why do I need to datalog or see his engine?
Boost mapping in motronic just has different N75 duty cycles and target boost level for different TPS %.
If you set all of them the same as the one at 100%, it will behave exactly as an aftermarket (crappy) boost controller.

Max boost won't change, so nothing will happen to the engine, that would not have happened before.

I don't agree with doing something like this, but it is still safer than putting a huge spring in, because it will still be able to go into limp mode, if something goes wrong.

                P.S.
Anyone who can map motronic, can do this. But _all_ of them will probably tell you that it is a bad idea.

If something goes wrong the difference between 0.4 and 0.9 spring isn't going to save anything

Anyway it's motronics not my concern

The difference between 0.4 bar at 7000 rpm and 0.9 bar at 7000 rpm on a stock engine and stock turbo will.

well im gonna put a huge spring in with my vems thats connected to my blown engine and my cool oh and crappy controller which may have been cool 10 years ago but nowadays just works and make some more hp.

chees for the pointer jamo. i ordered, itll be here tomorrow. ready for weekend so i can blow another I5 in rice fashion

You know the easiest way to solve this?
If you want to go fast, press the pedal more!

The reason I am writing so strongly about this, is that making the turbo work hard, making boost, when the throttle plate is still half-way closed and strangling the engine just makes no sense at all to me.
And it does not make sense to Audi, MTM, Wetterauer, MRC, SMS, ABT, etc as well. In all their chips I have seen they use the full range of the map to provide this gradual throttle response.

I agree with using a slightly stiffer spring on a _larger_ turbo. So you can have less WG creep. But using it on the stock turbo is just blatant disregard for perfectly good engineering IMO.

                            each to their own.

writings can pass on horrible unintentional tones.

me and jamo run far from stock cars and failsafes are long gone.

Yes, you guys do, and that's perfectly fine.
But the OP is still running a stock car. Throwing safety away on a stock car with virtually no gain is what I don't understand.

Isn't this a bit like what Paul ( S2central) has already done with his V-stream chip? Its not to the extreme of 100% boost at any throttle but full boost seems to be reached at at about 2/3 throttle and is much more eager to get up into boost at part throttle than the 'standard' homefry chip.
