    Too much boost

Ive been trying to solve this problem on my car for a while and im wondering what else it could be now.

    The symptons.

with the WGFV disconnected i get consistent 0.74bar in any gear so I dont think the Wastegate is sticking.

I have check the pipe work and all seems to be in order.

I have changed the WGFV twice but its made no difference.

I have reset the ECU but ive not had time to remove the fault codes from it yet.

The exhaust is waiting to be fixed for the final time since it has started blowing again so I am having the centre box removed and having it replaced with the a flexi joint all going well. I dont think this would make a difference with this problem would it though?

With the WGFV connected even on light throttle in high gears the boost exceeds the set threshold for its map.

    anyone got some inspiration?

    ta

You've convered alot of bases there, but have you considered the unthinkable? it could be the ECU itself?

Greg, wasnt it mapped with a boost leak? I know only small but that may have a large affect on the boost? Which pipe was leaking, i forgetted now!

Also, is your gauge reading OK?

yeah gauge is reading fine, you can feel it aint right cos it holds back and misses if u not careful. As soon as that happend i backed right off, dont wanna do a Bananna Rod (Ala Tom & Steve H)

Is the base boost in ABY engines 0.8? I think not. Shouldn't it be 0.6? So if you disconnect the wgfv and still have too much boost it can't be ecu related in any way.
WG spring too tight, tightened or the WG itself sticking. Upper WG nipple not blocked?

I do believe the ABY is 0.8 at WG, thats from previous threads and from what S2Central said at Billing.

For a stock setup maybe. But for tuned cars running at 1 bar or so wouldnt be any problem. Mine was set to about 1.1bar IIRC, been a while now Gives increased torque low down on larger turbo'd cars

Nah WG nipple isnt blocked, boost shoudl peak at 1.6 on mine. wtih ECU connected to WGFV it peaks as high as 2 bar. Without it never goes about 0.74 which is the WG boost. Also I have put the standard WG spring back in for the moment and taken the stiffer one out mihnea gave me.
