    TCP question

week ago i made the Tcp test with the screw driver, the fan and the tcp pompe start so i thought it was the F98 - TCP Thermoswitch who was dead as I never hear the after run sequence coming on.

I ordrer a new one and put it in and now even after making the car very hot the after run sequence never start.
I took F98 out and made it hot in the wife oven and it's switching so it work.

So do you think that my car never get enough hot to start the after run sequence or should I search different direction.

PS I leave in south of france where it's very hot now.

The standard thermoswitch needs to be stupidly hot before it switches the pump and fan on. I've switched to a 90º one from an LT Van and it comes on whenever I finish a decent drive and stays off if the engine isn't really warm.

It runs quite seldomly with the original switch. Note that you need to wait for 5-10 minutes for the system to start.

I replaced mine with the FAE 105C unit that has been discussed here before. I think it's from Golf2/Corrado.

I sticking with the 'mark h fuse mod'..lol
basically just bridge switch f98 with a fuse, so it will always come on for 10mins when ignition is turned off.

It's 90 watts for the early 3B type after run fan power. I made some calculations and IIRC the resistor uses around 60 watts and the fan itself around 30W. I have no idea how much the pump takes, but presumably around 30W(?).
It's quite a bit if you drive only short travels and always leave the after run sequence on as it discharges the battery about 120W/12V=10A, 8/60min -> 0,13h -> 1,3Ah each time.
