    fitting a billet wheel on?

what is your opinion about fitting the new GTX billet compressor wheel on the normal GT3076?

it looks like its slightly bigger(58/76.6 vs 57/76.2) so to be fitted as is, it needs a new compressor wheel housing and some machining, unless you get the wheel machined down to match.

Any benefits of doing option number 2? Im not looking for top hp number, but faster responce. It doesnt seem to me a great cost effective solution but id like the opinion of more experienced people!

    thanks

Can't you just machine the old hosing a bit? No point to machine down the wheel..? I think it's better to not touch the wheel, you could easily destroy it.

If you do so machine or change the housing and not the wheel.

Check for wheels dimensions on both turbos. Some manufacturers or suppliers give impeller diameter and some give housing diameter witch in most cases it is about 1mm difference.

      Assembly needs to be rebalanced.

        ah i see

so the turbo needs to come off anyway. if that is the case then option number 1 would be better.

well its a thought. I got word from turbodynamics that these turbos have just been out, so no wheels are yet available. We'll see...

The GTX wheels are over priced.

have a look at forced performance, they came out before GTX with their "HTA" compressor wheels that offer the same gains. price is $600 for the upgrade which includes a new compressor cover and wheel.

HTA are billet as well? 600$ seems a bit steep already considering the balancing as well!

thats the full service price. ship them a turbo, pay them $600 and the wheel is installed and balanced.

I'd have to call and ask. They would probably do that.

yeah, cause it is not an idea to send the turbo to them and back. Customs will kill us.

i think it is being done in the uk anyway.
