Where's the Avant ECU hidden ?

    Hi,

    Help !!!

A no brainer for someone !

Where is the ECU in the avant ? Paul N's going to do me a 'homefry' tomorrow and I need to find it fast.

Paul.... if you're having a chuckle, I've tried to send a couple of PM's, but I'm not sure if they made it. I'll need some contact details, I'll try mailing again.

    thanks,

    Raymond

    Raymond,

Don't worry, Paul had to tell me where the ECU was hidden before he cooked it for me.

It's hidden behind the glovebox and aircon box. If you stick your head right under the dash on the passenger side and look where the carpet stops you should be able to see it.

      thanks Ben !

Does it come out easily ? I'll need to remove it at the airport tomorrow. If I can find it now, I'll give it a trial run first though....

I was lucky with mine as:

        a) like most bits of my car it had been out before

        and

        b) I went to Pauls to have it done.

From what I have heard though they are a PITA to remove. There's a clip that holds it in and you need to remove the vacuum pipe connection.

I would ask Paul for some tips on getting it out (no pun intended) as I think he probably has the most experience (and war wounds).

Yeah, I got it eventually. I haven't disconnected the vacuum hose yet, I'll save that for tomorrow.... just in case.

Well, after all the panic of not knowing where the ECU was, I finally made it down to Paul's place for some reprogramming.

I wasn't going to touch the ECU because I was very sceptical of getting some 'specialist' to do the work and not having any feedback on how well other people's mods had been done... but after seeing the posts about 'homefry's' I felt comfortable enough to go ahead.

Wow ! The result is superb and that was without the car being there to test immediately afterwards, it was still parked at Glasgow airport at the time, theres faith in Paul's ability for you !

Paul, what can I say apart from thanks. It's great!

That's be another honeymoon period with the car again !

If you're thinking about it.... go ahead, I couldn't stop laughing to myself all the way home.... whooosh!
