ABY PAS pump fail??

Hi guys.
Some time now i have been having a sort of a screeming sound when engine is cold and i havent seem to find the fault other then it comes form top right side of the engine.
I´m thinking PAS pump fail, as i cant see any boubles in the PAS tank in the right side if the engine compartment.
Am i wrong here?
I have eliminated the alternator as it died on me last week

Also, it gets worse the colder it is.
But when engine is heating up ths sound seems to disapere

take the belt off then you can be sure if it is the pump or not.

Just for reference if it turns out to be your PAS pump. The ones from ECP are pants, built with red Auto trans fluid (your using the Audi green stuff right?) and are fitted with cheap o-rings. I had 2 fail instantly. You can get a rebuild kit from Audi and to get all the seals etc you need a few seal from Audi 100. can sort you out with partn nos if u need them. Not the hardest thing to rebuild, just a bit fiddly and youl need a way of getting the pulley off. i used heat on pulley, cryo spray on shaft and 3 legged puller.

I've got a screeching noise from the front of the RS2, getting worse in colder weather also, and definitely the PAS pump! It also goes away after 4-5 mins of running. I'm not sure if a rebuild will fix that?

Where is the best place to get a decent, reliable new/recon pump? I do have a spare, however it ran dry on another car and as such also has a screech and is possibly not the best candidate for rebuilding...

I'd like to know where to get a good new or recon pump aswell as mine makes a nice grinding whining when its running, i also know theres play in the pulley

Can only advise on what i came across. Nobody seemed to be very confident about what they were offering. Other point as that almost all said they had been built with red atf fluid which i believ is a no go. when i stripped mine down, which was making a racket and was producing low pressurento the bomb, i found nothing of particulary interet or wear. so just repllaced and rebuilt everything. fired up a treat and has worked fine. not a bad option for 30 quid! well that was my reckoning aftre getting messed about wi ECP.
