Ebay or every other autoparts seller?? It is the same as for the overbore S2/RS2 and i think either Victor Reinz or Elring makes them.

Also 034 motorsport do one but it's 300 dollars.

I looked for an oem solution a while ago with no success

I'm running 82.5 with standard stroke, so need an 83 or 83.5mm gasket.

i have a torque plate made up to over bore the original gasket but these are not cheap after you have put some time in on a mill.

I used a VW Transporter 2.5TDi MML Elring gasket for my old re2500 10v engine, and that had a 83.0mm bore. Im fairly sure it will fit the 20v engine also. About £30 from GSF.

I did exactly this with my two last HG's James, i made a jig and machined out the gasket to 83mm.

The problem with this is the inner (0.1mm) steel layer is folded back on itself to create a fire ring and after machining this ring drops out (well it did on mine) which renders the gasket useless and the gasket wont seal properly.

                Thats interesting,

Did you do a compression test to confirm this?

What did you do in the end? standard gasket?

I had a look for this gasket when you mentioned it in a previous thread but had no luck in finding it

My local machine shop had a look too but all the 2.5tdi's they could find had 81x95.5mm bore stroke so the gaskets are 82mm

No, i did about 7 runs up the drag strip with the 1st gasket and about 5 runs with the 2nd gasket.

The 2nd gasket i was using nitrous and it just cant hold the pressure and was blowing water out the expansion bottle every WOT. Still managed a 10.7 :mischeif:

Also det was absent so was not to blame.

I'm still looking for a solution and i may have to strip the engine and machine the pistons to clear a standard gasket

I resent paying £200-300 pounds for a uprated gasket from a tuning company.

                        Thats classic

I spoke to a gasket company in Brum he could help but it was £250-£300 and copper made in any size. But that was a one off. Maybe he could sort a better price out for a few.

He suggested milling the OEM gasket thats why i went down that route, i mean everything seems to be okay at the moment but like you said your cutting all the multi layers and if there folded and ment to be that way... Well...

Everything is ok until you start to give the engine some beans.

I may just take the pistons out and releive them slightly and use a standard gasket.

Why am I quite positive the Reinz gasket doesn't have a fold of any kind? Ajusa or Goetz might have, but I think Reinz doesn't..

It's ok if the gasket protrudes in the combustion chamber even if the piston clears it?
