s6 engine mount gone; which replacement?

Since I got the s6 the exhaust has been low, over the last while I changed the hangers etc to try and give it a bit of lift without any real success. I've read here before that they're all low. Anyway I brought the car to a guy today to price a stainless item €550 cat back and it'll be noisier...

When up on the ramp the young polish guy who was working there pointed out that if he pushed up on the exhaust that the whole engine was lifting. True enough the turboside engine mount has a ridiculous amount of up down play. €10 for a new rubber hanger to replace a new oem item and saved me forking out for an exhaust.

So after all that do I go for oem, 034, aftermarket or other for my replacement? Any tips for changing it, looks like a bit of a pita to get at.

Some people who went 034 mounts were happy, others couldn't tell the difference from stock. Me, I'd go new OE from a dealer (avoiding aftermarket cr*p made from recycled sandals made from recycled tires).

As for hints, I searched my home forum (quattroworld UrScar) and found these:

2 good tips there, not too keen on anything made from recycled sandals made from recycled anything. Maybe febi I've had good experience with them before, will make a few calls tomorrow. Another weekend under the car coming up.

Can't help you on that, I'm running a mild tune, oem's have probably done 138k at this stage.

FUGG. It was a long and well written reply with photos and links. I guess I did the preview but never hit the F'n SEND button. Too lazy to go all through that again so I will just take your thread off topic with this short version:

205/55/16 is exactly right. If you want a little more clearance, go 215/55/16.
I am currenly running Hankook iPike W409s and am happy with them. Good in the wet, good in the snow, lots of sipes so should be reasonably good on ice and packed snow. Can be studded (if your laws allow)

I think they are a Hakkapelita or Nokkian copy.

Thread has pretty much served it's purpose now and my threads go way OT all the time..

Bet the preview looked good , many thanks. I have always liked hankooks based on past experience with them on lighter cars. I spotted the Ipike range on the hankook website last night but couldn't get them or anything else from the range when I called the supplier. I went for Vredstein wintrac xtreme so hopefully I'll be on the right track this time tomorrow. Size 205/55/16, got to go with the gut feeling sometimes eh they don't look anything as functional as yours which is a pity.

Do you run studs normally over there? I must do some research on them regarding the law, I'd say the local cops wouldn't have a clue.

                Thanks again.

Part 1 is to identify the suitable product and verify it's available, then to see if I can get them at the right price. They're not collected or paid for yet might have to get in contact with the south koreans before the day is out..
