how should i get more power?!

Right, its the golden question! Planning for now and the future...

currently, its pretty much stock apart from cone filter and s3 dump valve and re-mapped and i'd like to find some more power. the question is, what should i do!?

Currently, most of my money is going to refurbing the subframes, corners etc but id like to spend a bit on the engine performance if i can!

not going to lie, right now i cant afford manifolds turbo etc, but i was going to fit a new exhaust 2.5" to 3" (yet to decide) but also wouldnt mind anything else if its not going to rip my account to shreds (very unlikely!).

so far i've been looking at some cams and injectors.

First off...CAMS. i know theres audi standard cams from a 7a or NM? this correct? how much gain is this going to get?

Injectors...Seen some bosch race injectors (the light green ones) @ 450cc/min. I realise this will need a re-map atleast. Is the stock FPR 3.8bar? would a 4.0bar be needed? any other problems this could cause or changes needed?

    Thanks in advance!

    Will

You won't need injectors till you get a bigger turbo Your turbo will be near it's limit now ,a larger exhaust will let it breath better so will spool up quicker which will help .

        Hi,

        I don't know much, but that won't stop me replying, if it was me I'd make the following changes in the following order;

An RS2 airbox, cat bypass pipes, and a second hand RS2 exhaust system, or a 3" stainless steel exhaust.

then look at doing the front brakes and the ARBs and a decent drivers seat, and a set HID headlights. A set of 17" (avus) rims with 225/45/17 tyres.

I'd leave the cams until the very last and only change the injectors near the end when changing the turbo and having the ECU remapped to match.

There's a good few items to do after the initial ones mentioned above before considering cams and injectors.

Others will also contribute their tuppence.

Mine probably won't help much, but hope it does.

        Kind regards.

My opinion in aiming for a reliable 380BHP is along the lines of wagner intercooler (black one) wagner Evo exhaust manifold to keep pistons 1 & 5 from overheating, RS2 turbo, 3" minimum DP and free flowing exhaust. RS2 injectors. I haven't decided on the fuel pump yet but if I want to keep all those horses I'll have to feed them.

DP with 3 threaded inserts, EGT, Wideband lambda for monitoring / tuning and standard narrowband lambda for feed to the ECU.

          Silicone Boost hoses etc etc.

In my project I want to make sure the base engine is running healthy and that all the usual foibles are sorted out like the aux coolant pump, radiators, oil cooler etc all working as they should. Also all the sensors.

All that done I'll be looking for a safe tune to keep it reliable.

What sort of power are you chasing?

                yes

I think it's a happy balance between tuning the car and having to build an engine and chassis from the ground up.

Agreed, but he didn't set a strict budget, these cars are a bottomless moneypit, it all depends on how deep you pockets are and how much will power one has.

He could leave his car as it is, it's already chipped, but like most of us it's difficult not to think well maybe just one more item.
