today i replaced my old flowregulating valve in breather hoseses system. (old one has leak, and was about 160k miles old).
When i fit new one, i opend old one. And what i saw, was complitly tosted inside diaphragma
Does anynone has same experiences with FRG valve:confused:

I'm guessing here...... but isn't there a flame retarder further up the breather system to catch any flames before they become a problem?? The flow regulator is before the flame trap, so I'm not surprised it's toast, if ??? this is the case!! anyone else swapped theirs?
Have to admit mine was a little crispy when I changed it on sunday. It wasn't burnt completely but there where definite signs that it had been on fire at some point.

Some fine day in the future - somebody (maybe me) is gonna post a definitive article on the wonderous working of the PCV system on the S2.
I can't recall the scenario during which the flame arrester would be required - how would sparked combustion gases makes their way into the PCV hoses in a scenario other than some really bad misfire or timing alignment problem ?
The purpose of the check-valve is to ensure that the crankcase is allowed to vent whether the engine is in vacuum or boost conditions.
I need to rip all this stuff off an S2 and build a better mental picture of normal running ventilation and what failures could lead to running problems and weird scenarios where the flame arrester is required.
