V6 not starting when very cold

Hi, Non s2 issue but some good guys on here so I thought it might be worth an ask

My 1995 80 2.6 avant has a starting problem when it's very cold.

When I try to start the car on very cold mornings it just turns and turns but wont fire.

A few winters ago we had this problem and a new cam position sensor solved the problem.

I bought another new cam position sensor along with a new battery (old battery didn't like all the cold cranking) after the car failed to start last week. It started and ran fine till this morning.

I'm thinking that if the temperature would lift above 0 outside then the car would start as it never fails to start unless it gets very cold overnight.

Any ideas would be very helpful.

Blanket over the engine and a heater blower underneath, not ideal but it should get you away.

fuel getting to plugs?is it sparking?

i would recommend buying/borrowing a code reader, even the cheap(£20) ***** chinese ones are very good in my experience, and even work on 7a's

Might not be related but my my a4 2.8 v6 has a problem starting so i plugged in my mates diagnosticds.

It never show any codes so i left it plugged in for a week and whenever it wouldnt start i had a look at the live data.

Turned out to be a bad connection on the water temp sensor, so was saying the engine was colder than it actually was and flooding it.
