RS2 IC on my ABY Avant

My IC has blown on my ABY Avant and i am trying to decide whether to go for an RS2 IC or stock ABY one.

Can anybody give me the exact dimensions of the bracket i would need to make up?

Is it possible to weld this bracket onto the RS2 IC first then bolt it on to the crossmember? Or does it have to be the other way round, ie bolted on to the IC and welded onto the xmember.

The thing is i can get welding done at work but it would be so much easier if i could give the IC to Mr Welder and say weld that bracket on.

I'm sure this has been covered before and i have read the threads but i just would like some clarification before i make the final decision.

(Thanks Martyn for your help so far!!)

When I had mine done, the bracket was welded onto the crossmember and bolted to the intercooler.
The intercooler already had the holes for bolts, whereas the crossmember doesn't and you can't drill straight through because of the pipe running inside it.

Cut the old (driver side) bracket off with an axle grinder. Attach the RS2 intercooler on the passenger side to the crossmember, get someone to hold it steady and attach the bracket you cut off onto the driver side of the intercooler, and get your holding person to keep it in place before tacking it up with weld. Leave 10cm between back of RS2 i/c and crank pulley. Adjust as required, and weld up proper, then paint with rust proofing stuff.

If you have the equipment to hand, will take around 1/2 an hour, assuming you have someone to hold the i/c while it's being welded.

Don't think the aux rad interferes with the work, and it's easier to do with the crossmember still in place on the car.

      Have fun!
