    crank bolt re-usage

Am I correct in thinking the big hex bolt that holds the front pulley on is a stretch bolt on the ABY engine and needs to be replaced each time its undone? I purchased a new one and torqued it up then realised I had forgot the washer that goes behind the pulley.

I know the stretch head bolts are okay to use twice, any thoughts on if I can apply the same logic here before I splash out another 16 quid on a new bolt.

ive heard alot of people reusing the bolt. I re-used mine. but im going to replace it soon, fitting stronger rods soon anyway. but my gut-feeling tells me you should replace every time, small cost compared to a broken engine...

I re-used the bolt on my last engine (was for 40000km ok). After that i changed to the stroker and used a new one.

I'll go for a new one to be on the safe side, does anyone have the part number, I thought it was 035 105 229 A , but audi just told me that doesn't exist.

Almost right, the number starts 034 rather than 035.

Any fricking Audi parts man worth his salt should have spotted that - or at the very least he could have looked it up on the family album - lazy useless bahstids sometimes.
