I have been planning on starting a "project" car for the last few months. Winter time is coming soon, and I was SET on buying a 90q20v. Unfortunately, they're hard to come by in my area, and, fueled by resources such as the Ersatz S2 conversion and my friend's fathers mechanical abilities and expertise, I decided I would purchase a 90Q and swap out the tired, slow engine for a 200 20vT. Unfortunately, I am no expert on the subject, but just the other day I test drove an '89 90Q. It was pretty solid all around except for its lack of power and a pretty paint job or wheels. The price is right, and should leave me enough cash to cover the conversion plus whatever else I see fit (*bling*). But back to the point... In Brandon Hull's how-to it states that his project was related to the 1990-91 90Q, and my main question was.... Is the '89 much different, in the terms of engine swap difficulty or compatibility? Sorry for rambling, but I thought I may benefit from the amount of Audi knowledge on the forum and possibly influence my purchase decision on the car
Any input would be appreciated! Thanks people
PS- Is a 1991 200 20v the only year that is compatible with the 90q? That was also mentioned on his site but wanted it cleared up.
