    v6 emissions MOT failure

My wifes v6 cabby failed on emissions, lamda is ok but the co2 failed at 0.47% and the max allowed is 0.30%,exhaust and cat where new 6 months ago,car dos;..nt smoke or burn any oil.
Has anyone any ideas as to what might cause this.

Assuming that the lambda and fuelling is correct then a faulty or not properly warmed up cat. i.e. the cat wasn't workign correctly.

It can happen. Was it an OE cat or a sports cat? Sports items require patience and to be properly warmed up. Find out if they did the short or long test.

    It's CO btw, not CO2

My v6 had a C0 of 0.17% with out the cats

Go for a ride and measure again when the engine is hot.

This happened to me last year, so I put a bottle of strong engine cleaner into a 1/4 full tank (this isn't 'recommended' by experts, but Audi's are bomb-proof), took the car for a blast, and it passed 4 days later.

If you do need a pair of cats, I have a brand new passenger side one going for £65.

Nice work. Thrashing aka the 'Italian Tuneup'

Trust me, you don't want what is referred to as an "italian tuneup" on your car:

Maybe I should refer to this as "Saudi tuning" instead - fuel is cheap, the more the better.
And yes, I read this off a car. Owner complained about excessive fuel consumption
