Car stalled and will not restart HELP!

Just as I was driving home the car stalled when I went to pull away, I thought it was strange but it restarted and I drove the final mile home, just as I was pulling into my road it conked out and will not start. The engine just spins over and there is no fuel at the spark plug when I checked it and you cannot feel any vibration on the fuel pump when it is cranking.

So far I have tried the following,

12v across fuel pump from battery and it runs
Checked voltage from the fuel pump wire which is around 10v when cranking

The car has also been down on boost recently and boost cutting but this may just be coincidence

Any ideas will be much appreciated

Standard non-start procedure - pull the fuses to clear the codes, spin it on the starter for five seconds leaving the ignition on, and pull the codes again.

      Hall sender?
Should show up as a fault code.

Hall sender is only used to start the car so wouldn't make it stall if it decided to die during a drive.

Ok, where is the location of the fuel pump relay in the early 3B, I have looked at the forum and s2 central and it says that it is position 10 in the fuse box, this in my car is relay number 372, manifold pre-heater and jetronic. In other cars I have seen on here they have relay number 215 or 208 for fuel, I will vagcom it now and see if anything comes up.

Am I supposed to have relay 372 or 208 in the car? apparently they both do the same job but "208: 30/20A vs 372: 40/?"

just checked for a spark in the dark with the plug out and earthed and there appears to be nothing, is there a sensor which will stop fulling and the spark?

I know this is the way it *supposed* to work. However, I know of at least one case where the UrS quit while being driven. All sorts of things were replaced but nothing cured the problem, it still quit periodically while being driven. Finally, by pure chance and against conventional "wisdom" the owner replaced the Hall effects cam position sensor. The problem went away.

Check the dizzy, perhaps the drive gear has let go?

that would be my guess, I had this twice before with 20v's and the 1st time half the gear broke which stalled it.

Take the cap off and see if the rotor arm is spinning on cranking.
