    MAF Engine 7A

    Hi,

I have a friend that have Coupe Quattro 7A engine.

He monted turbo KKK24 and some more parts.

    My question:

7A engine not use Map sensor in Intake Manifold. I need work with original ir MAF Hitachi but i know that need re-calibrate MAF to new Air-Flow.

I think if i make a large MAF using the same sensor i can have sucess.

    What your think?

Do you know how to map that ECU?
Bosch ECU's of that era do not have a MAF linearisation map - don't know about hitachi.
Don't know which ECU is fitted to your car - you need to check.

If you just put it in a bigger pipe and then turn up fuel pressure, then you will have way too early timing and will blow the engine.

So no, you can't just put it in a big pipe and increase fuel pressure.
Either way, when turboing the car you will have to re-map the entire ECU. Good luck with that.

The car work with the original ECU. Hitachi.

I want to start somewhere. I know the MAF is going to influence the good operation of the engine. As the original MAF has a capacity to read x kg/hr now going to read much because the car was modified for turbo.

I need change the diameter of the MAF to cheat on their reading. So I intend to observe a reading similar methods.

      I think I do understand.

      What do you think?

I already told you that you will blow up the engine like this.
N/A and turbocharged car ignition and fuel enrichment is VERY different.
You need to retard ignition, but by putting the MAF into a bigger tube, you will ADVANCE ignition under boost.

        = BOOM.

Get standalone ECU/programmable ECU. Megasquirt 2 or 3 or GM Delco are the cheapest.

Solved. Make a analog circuit and put in MAF.

            Car run fine.

              Not for long it won't.
Have fun under boost with 25+ degrees of ignition advance.

I personally think it is cheaper to tune the car properly the first time, than to replace engine and tune it again later.
But hey, it's not my car.
