    What Do I need next?

Another Noobie question and yes ive searched the forum....

My engine will be going for a rebuild soon and ive been given the task of finding all relevant parts, there are many engines in the project section that have been rebuilt but no actual list of parts that are needed.

So far on the Ordered list are....

Head Gasket set - Quattro Corner
Bottom end gasket set - Quattro Corner

I know there is a lot more that needs to be taken into account but what are these?

    Piston Rings
    Con Rod bearings
    Main Crank bearings

Anything else that needs or would you change whilst the engine is out?

Part Numbers would be nice so that i could source them straight from Audi

Engine will be in the region of 350-400bhp if that changes anything. Thanks

      stronger rods
      rings
      rod bearings
      main bearings
      main bolts
      head bolts
      oil pump
      water pump
      crank sprocket & bolt
      block decked
      flywheel skim
      flywheel bolts
      clutch
      bottom end balance
head skim + extra deck cooling
      valve guides
      possibly new exhaust valves
      valve seat recut

Maybe water Jacketing your head for 400hp is alittle much but none the less very effective.

        I would add

        :Rear crank seal
        :Oil check valve
:Oil Pump drive on the crank Snout
        :New bolts for sump pan
        :Oil Squirters
        :Crank Crack tested

Thanks for the list guys, now the other problem i have is sourcing, seemed ok with 034 Motorsport until i noticed $70 postage for a couple of things.

So could anyone point me in the right direction for...

          ARP Head studs
          ARP main stud kit

Is there an Oil Pump rebuild kit available?

Other small bits such as sump bolts and flywheel bolts ill get from Audi so they should be ok.

only get head and main studs from 034 as i made this mistake by getting them in uk and they are wrong over here

the best thing you can do is just do one order from them so work out all the bits you want from them and get it in one hit and ask them to be kind on invoice so you dont pay as much duty

i got turbo and all sort and it cost me £80 postage so get a list together

@ greg s - ive seen a lot of pictures with them apart and i thought there was such a kit, when the engine was running mine always had a healthy reading on the gauge so im guessing it would be fine.

@ keithsw0 - ah right I see, so ill get them off their website asap! With the postage ill have to take the hit, there are many pornographic bits id love from 034 but my account has been blitzed allready

Piston rings and big end small end bearings are next when ive actually stripped her. Will standard spec bearings do or are the 034 coated ones worth the extra, like ive said im hoping for 450 bhp.

                      This:

                      One of these:

For 350-400hp it is kinda waste of money to fit stronger rods.
If you are planning to go further later, then it would be a good idea to do it now, rather than tear the engine apart again.

But if you are just going to fit 2871/3071, then if you get it tuned properly, so you don't get heavy knock, you won't need stronger rods.
