    rs2 under power

put my rs2 on rolling road today because seemed under powered, doesn't idle very smooth and is using a lot of fuel i'm driving it very steady and its averaging 12 mpg didn't no if this was right or not but any way they rang me and said it was putting out 285 bhp so the are doing some more tests tomorrow has anyone else had this sort of experience?

It is a air mass flow sensor situated after airbox.Try to unplug to see if it is any diference on how the car is running.

Using a lot of fuel could be a bad G62 Engine Coolant Temp sensor that will cause the ECU to think the engine is cold and therefore enrichen the Air:Fuel ratio even after the engine is warm = poor power and high fuel use. Here is some G62 info that might help.

Are these rolling road people any way experienced in s2 / rs2?
That temp sender will be on a range of engines.

If they're not testing using vag-com or other garage diagnostics system to see what all of the sensors are outputting I'd be a bit concerned. I hope they're not putting it on the rollers over and over to try find a problem.

Different dynos have different outputs so what sort of dyno are they using and are the figures they've given you wheel power or calculated flywheel power. That figure might not be a million miles off what a standard rs2 would deliver after 15 years.

Is your car modified in any way?

I'm in Bristol if you're stuck and want the codes checking. MAF, lambda, temp sensor and boost leaks are the place to start. If the garage aren't versed in these cars then you're wasting your time and money ime.

Absolutely not. The G62 035919369M Thermal Switch goes back to the late 1980's Audi 100s and 200s up through the 200 20vt, 3B, AAN, ABY and RS2 but also includes the V8s and at least the early A8 and S8 V8 engines. Should be easy to find new and used.

That means nothing. It goes into limp mode without the maf and uses conservative settings.
Stop trying to fix things by unplugging and guessing. Check fault codes with vagcom and check for air leaks in the intake.

Does VAG-COM codes give more specific info than the "blink codes"?

I have also some trouble with the car. It don't run idle at all with cold engine. Tried also to plug off the MAF-plug, but with no difference in the behavior, engine stalls at idle when cold. With warm engine the idle is fine and normal. Few times the "engine check" light has turn on high rev's.

Yes, vag com is much better than blink codes.

Your ISV is most likely jammed , try removing hoses to it and spraying it with WD40.
