What's this fault? - Symptom is....

Does anyone know what the cause of this intermittent fault is?

No immediate rhyme or reason as to why or when it occurs.

Been driving it for a week with no faults, but earlier today when accelerating under half or wide open throttle, at approx 2.5k rpm or a little over the engine power cuts like hitting a rev limiter higher the rev range, driver is thrown forward like as if someone else has stood on the brakes hard, for about a second.

Car is a std 94 ABY Avant.

As it is intermittent, I presume it is something like a sensor or sensor connection, rather than a fuel filter or fuel pump? When it decides to happen, it continues to happen as soon as the accelerator brings the engine up to the 2.5k mark.

Haven't tried it on a light throttle opening past 2.5k, but it idles and drives fine below 2.5k. The majority of my journeys are very short. Less than 5 miles. The other home fried ABY is fine with the same journeys.

Have no kit to pull codes from it. Should be able to arrange something this weekend with my brother.

In the meantime, any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Don't recall reading about this type of issue in the past on the forum, but am probably wrong, old age could be catching up on me faster than I realise.

    Thanks.

      Shane,

Agreed, but the intermittent nature of it has me puzzled. It only started yesterday so too soon to deduce any pattern. Will be trying it out today.

      Thanks.
