Vasilis ,Peter Kowatchs advised me to open any high performance engine every 10K kms of course i was thinking that these "every 10k KMS" should be 10K kms made with the engine giving in it´s performance limits.... giving the full potential

because cruising with 130km/h ...and eating kms in the motorways will not affect too much true?

Peter advised me to replace all bearings, check lifters, make compression test, seals, valves, piston rings,etc...

will you replace too the piston rings and crank bearings??

Or more practically you can get your oil analysed every 10k or so, gives you a very good idea whats going on inside your engine without having to open it.
Good practice too to cut open your old oil filters to see if theres anything that shouldn't be there

my plan is to get the most serious stuff checked. I am going to have another belts change, cyl.head removal and replaced with a ported one, lifters, gaskets and seals will be new, valves will be the same and seats will be new.
From the bottom end i was instructed that the rod bearings are the only ones i need to worry about for now.

Piston rings, im not sure. I dont have much oil consumption at the moment, and i dont race the car either, so i presume they are ok. I can ask about it but changing the rings means hoaning as well, and i dont think ill be doing all that.

Peter exaggerates a bit. Repo has mentioned on a different thread that usually a 5cyl engine, well built needs a check of the bearings every 100K kms and an engine with more than 500hp every 60K kms.

I don't think that was the issue in this instance, this engines oil pickup was full of gasket sealant stuff, engine had been removed from a crashed car, had had headgasket replaced, overheating problems and oil pressure issues and started knocking.

The photo was just to show what heavily worn and completely shagged bearings looked like.

Yeah I can't remember the name my mate uses, he does it on his Supermoto bike after every couple of races, i think he said it was about £30, and a lot less time & hassle than stripping the bike IIRC you buy a sample kit of them, send it off to them and they send you back info.

No high horse power race engines need rebuilding every season/yearly
