So this comment from Scott Mockery at SJM Autotechnik doesn't apply?
"The operators manual refers to this "Check" engine light as the "Emission Control System (ECS) Malfunction Indicator Light." (MIL) If the "Check" engine light does not come on with the ignition key turned to the on position, then you may have a burned out bulb in the instrument panel. Some vehicles may not have this bulb installed at the factory.
If this is the case, you "may" be able to install a 1.2 Watt instrument panel light bulb (Osram 2721) into the empty socket with wiring behind the instrument cluster"
You guys really have NO wiring for the CEL there?
I am just surprised that the factory did have blink codes for the 3B and the North American UrS4/S6 but that you guys (outside North America) have no such access to fault code info. Seems strange. How do you even know that you have a problem with no CEL/MIL?

Merlin'sS4 has suggested that at least in his case, the wiring for the CEL/MIL was there, he just needed to add the bulb. Post 6 in this thread:

I don't think I have wiring...
Either that or it's tucked away.
I need to change a bulb in my dash though, so I'll try to check it when I do.
If the wiring is there I'll whip out the soldering iron.
The only issue is finding the bulb holder... IIRC those are needed as well.Comment

Somebody on this forum might have a spare Hall sender from the BB AutoMacao group buy. If you do get one, here is a step by step replacement procedure:

Not sure about the S4, almost certain it doesn't have the light. I added it into my S2 avant, no wiring was there but there is a spare pin in the connector to crimp the wire onto.
