    S6 oil switches

Can anyone please help with the location of the wiring to the oil switch. I have searched the engine bay and looms but nothing obviously cut off/missing.
I found this picture on the web but mine appears to be short changed!!
My oil temp and coolant temp gauges dont work and need to get to the bottom of this.
Apparently the engine was replaced at some stage and why anything with the wiring would have been changed, beats me?????
    Please help

AAN Oil Temperature and Pressure Senders

The UrS4 and UrS6 have different oil pressure senders. The UrS4 had an oil pressure gauge whereas the UrS6 did not, as explained here:

Not that much to say. The single pin oil pressure idiot light switch (Item 17) below, will at some point decide to fail and "pee" a stream of oil between the plastic and metal parts. Might be good to have one on hand in your trunk spares box. (NOTE: the UrS6 switch is different PN that the UrS4 switch (see below))

The oil pressure gauge sender (Item 19) below is an UrS4 only thing because the UrS6's got voltmeters instead of oil pressure gauges.

The oil temp sender (Item 20) below and the oil pump have been discussed in detail previously (HERE)

Thanks for that, makes a little more sense then, The single oil switch wire has 12v and brings on the oil can picture and bleeps when shorted.
The double must be from an S4? I presume there should only be one switch on the left side and a blanking plug where the double switch is??
I'll hunt for the wire for the oil pump sender and let you know if it brings up the oil gauge needle.
Then it will be time to sort the temp gauge.
      Cheers

Well that was easy, UrS4boy, your a star. Found the cut of lead tucked behind the air box. The gauge now creeps up to about 25% after a run, but not sure if its the correct sender, but its a great start.
How are you on temp gauges not reading?
Replaced the switch on the rear of the head, in the past, but no difference. There are two more under the inlet manifold, but which wires and what sender controls the gauge?
        Thanks

          AAN Coolant Sender Info

This should help people sort out their C4 UrS4/S6 AAN (and maybe ABY and ADU) coolant temp senders (be sure to follow the hyperlinks):

There are four coolant temperature senders of interest:

          1. The ECU gets its coolant temperature signal from the G62 sender at the back of the head.

          2. The Automatic Climate control gets its temperature signal from a separate sender located in a "T" at the back of the head. This temperature signal can be read through Channel 51 of the automatic climate control faceplate.

          3. The multifunction temperature switch (MFTS) that sends the temp signal to the gauge cluster. This reading can be compared to the Ch. 51 reading to help diagnose whether you have a MFTS problem or a thermostat problem.
Note: this MFTS switch is supposed to have a rubber boot ("grommet") over the connector (Item 29 below) and exposed switch portion, as shown as Item 27 in the diagram below.

          4. The after-run pump climate control switch - this is one that triggers the after run pump.

Is that a US car only thing? cant say ive ever seen this t-piece on the few cars ive looked at, with climate.

OT, Dave do you have a link to the correct routing of the vac pipes from the back of the inlet manifold, to ecu, diff etc?

The temp sender in the T at the back of the head is for cars with the automatic climate control. All North American UrS4/S6s have this. Cars in the ROW (rest of the World) should also have it IF they have the automatic climate control.

I will see what I can dig up re: vacuum. I know there is something for the rear diff and I know there is something for the line to the ECU. *IF* I find something, I will do a separate post.

                Ok thanks.

Mine doesnt have the t piece but does have auto climate.

Location might be a LHD vs RHD thing but somewhere, I am betting, you have a climate control temp sender in a "Tee". The automatic climate control cannot work without water temp data.
