    ABY Avant Fuel Pump Removal

I'm trying to remove my fuel pump to fit the Bosch 040 one that I've bought from Shark_90 but I can't get the basket to twist out. I'm sure there used to be a btdt thread on fitting Bosch pumps to Avants but I can't find it using the search facility. Has anybody got any ideas on how to get this out or has anybody got the special Audi tool (3307) that I can borrow.

    Cheers

That tool went walkies amongst various forum members, See Doug_RS2 and Greg_S original threads on the bosch 044 fuel pump installations for pictures

I think I've still got a 3307 in my collection. I'll have to check in the shed.

As Jamo says I used to have two but one went walkabout. (A bit like my subframe mount tool which I haven't seen since I did that subframe mount group buy in 2006 )

I always got em out with a pair of pliers upside down, wedge the rubber handle each side of the basket, take up the slack and give it a jolt. The key is a sudden impact, you can slowly twist it all day long and it wont budge, it needs a sudden jolt to break it free.

Somebody here recently came up with a home made tool to make the required twist. Have a look at this post:
