    7A Engine - Question!

    Hi guys,

I bought used engine to my Coupe Quattro. 7A engine.

    I read, in block, descrition 7A. ( I think is 2309cm3 )

    But i have question:

Engine not use Lambda sensor, in manifold exaust, and no CAT.

Injectores have same reference that my 2.0 NM engine.

I have a friend that have 7A engine and injectores have diferent reference ( have a small list BLUE ) and use Lambda+CAT.

Exist any 7A engine without cat and lambda?

Or i have 7A block but with head NM engine?

    Regards

Hmm...is the exhaust factory? it's possible that someone removed the Lambda sensor and is running the engine open loop (rich).
How much do you know about the car's history?
    Can you post a picture?

Exaust manifold is iqual at my NM engine. Tubular.

The tubular not use the small acessories to connect lambda sensor.

I bought engine a friend. He bought car in Spain.

I see ECU and not use 2 connectors. Is HITACHI but engine maps not same that 7A. Have same maps to NM engine.

There was a non catalytic version of the NM and 7A in Europe, as far as i know only pre 1991 cars with four plugs on the ECU. If the injectors are different its an NM engine you have. Injector part numbers should be,

        034 133 551 E for NM
        054 133 551 A for 7A

My " new " 7A engine use same injectors that my original engine NM CQ20V. ( Strange ).

It possible exist 7A engine with same components that NM but with 2309cm3?

I will remove head and see if pistons have 81mm or 82.5mm of bore.

Measuring the bore is the only way to tell, the injectors are so prone to failure its possible they may have been replaced at some point, and unfortunately the engine number is only stamped onto the cyl head, not the block.
