    Rusty valves...

The Donor engine (ABY) i am putting into a friends 80Q has rusty intake valves so much so that 2 of them where siezed, i soaked them in penetrating oil overnight and the engine now turns.
im a bit concerned about starting it although ive been assured it will be alright, Dont really want to pull the head if its not neccessary.
    Any advice welcome.

    Cheers Alex

Hmm, can't imagine that will do the guides any good at all, if it was me I'd strip it and get it sorted properly

There isnt any rust on the stems only on the bottom where the valves meet the seats i was more concerned about damage to the seat and the valves not sealing properly.

If the head is off the car then re-lap the valves back in place and clean it all up. The guides shouldn't have rusted, as they are made from non-ferrous material; you can check them when it's all apart though. I think it's best to do at least some remedial work.

You want to be lapping those valves in and clearing the rust of otherwise it will never seal properly.
