Distributor Rattle and caliper bolt torque settings
I'm having trouble finding this window area on my transmission, spent most of the day crawling round underneath my car tryin to find it. is it offside/nearside of the gearbox?
Gotta remove a badly rusted caliper bolt too, managed to shear a wrench adapter in half and remove some of my skin as well. Fun times...
Managed to sort it today along with changing over the brake discs, gonna go for a blast tonight to wear them in.
As for hte timing it seems there was a little white dot on the crank which I misunderstood to be the TDC mark, I was using that as a guide but then noticed that little dimple on the wheel, had a good fiddle with the distributor as well, as I was refitting the diz body it was rotating the shaft a little bit and throwing off the timing.

Yup - because it's a helical gear the arm rotates a few degrees anti-clockwise when you push it in. The more childish among us take bets that we can misalign a distributor by exactly the right amount before pushing it in so that it winds up post-rotation exactly on the mark.
Juvenile, perhaps, but you get bored when it's the fifth engine you've timed that week.
