Hol(e)y MAF and dirt in coolant reservoir.

Was just checking the car over today and noticed these issues.

Firstly MAF has somehow been pushed in on the one side the car had some work done recently at a local garage and the MAF may have been damaged there. The car runs fine and I had a great time out here on the mountains of Wales, would it be best to buy a new MAF or is it ok to continue in this state?

Also I've noticed a build-up of dirt/scum in the coolant reservoir. The reservoir is brand new. The dirt doesn't feel oily but I imagine that's probably what it is or could be.

    Any advice appreciated.

Sorry for the quality of the pics

Do not run the MAF with the screen like that!
Bits of it, or the entire screen could be sucked into the turbo causing a lot of trouble!

I've got a screen, if you want one let me know, I will just have to find them, I sort of know where they are but I have moved house since then !

Just take the screen out until you can find a replacement, a lot of people run without them anyway. As for the cooling system, I'd run a cleaner through it and flush with plenty of fresh water. I have this job to do soon as my new header tank is looking a bit murky.

Haha doesn't sound too good. Only just noticed it was like this today, it's a daily driver so I'll take it easy for a while until I get a new screen. Is a new screen easily fitted, take apart and slot in type of thing?

I'll run without the screen for a bit.

If you've got any screens available and can find them then I'd love one, please.

The scum is a bit weird. Why does it get like this, just general age and condition what with being the coolant being heated to high temperatures and cooled a lot afterwards?

          Thank you for the replies.

The screen is held in with a large wire 'C' clip, a small screwdriver will pop it out in seconds.

I think that's what I used last time - seemed to get enough crap out of it.
