    too much heat...hood/scoop pics please...

    Hi people...
well my UrS4 stage 2 is finally running, but I guess it got a little heat problem. Next to isolating the turbo and removing the hood inside isolation, I consider cutting a or some scoops into my hood. So do you have any pics, also of other turboquattros that ahd scoops done??? I want it to look very small and simple...

besides of that...removing to fuelfilter, which is right next to the hot side of my turbo would help a lot as well...

    thank in advance

yup, I'd go with louvres, much nicer than pikey scoops etc.

Louvres are the way to get heat out of the engine bay so make sure you are getting plenty of cold air into the warm areas. Im also a slight fan of spacing the bonnet up at the back to let hot air out.

            Like the jap boys do?

Would removing the rubber trim that goes between the engine bay and the hood evacuate hot air? Or is that a high pressure spot at the base of the windscreen?

thank you guy for your input...yesterday I got a little closer to the problem...well first of all I blow my RS6-ignition coils because of the heat...so new once need to be coming...
so far...we believe it is a porblem of several things...we already wrapped the turbo and the bend. electric vents is coming and I will change the water intercooler. I believe its plugged from sitting outside with a engine damage almost two years. and I have a second hood coming, which I can cut and see how it works...
adding it all up should solve the problem!!!
got any more pics of cut hoods? Sport-quattro looks nice and works I guess but is a little too much for my taste and my classic looking UrS4...

I think that would do the job pretty well, just need to make sure the hood doesnt rattle off the flange bit that the rubber sits on.

It would be good to put a temp guage under the bonnet and test different ways of reducing temps.

Vented hood sounds like a band-aid, masking the underlying problem.
What kind of setup do you have that produce all this excess heat?

As a pint of interest, bonnet vents, louvres etc do not always work. We did a load of datalogging on my mates RX7 with a V-mount rad/IC setup.
We logged oil, water & intake temps with a vented carbon bonnet, stock bonnet and front undertray. The stock bonnet and undertray was significantly better on all 3 temps, by about 10-15%. At idle it was marginally worse, by like 2%. I think this is becasue the undertray created a low pressure area under and to the rear of the engine bay, which sucked the hot air downwards and out the bottom.

thats interesting...my front undertray has never been on so far and I think the main reason of the heat is a bad water cooler...so I'll wait till I'm able to change that.

@ EspenW: I got Precision SC61 series wagner bend on a 2.2 AAN stock engine stock pistens with Pauter rods and 7A cams...
                      why you asking?

                        Can not decide...

I agree. There are tonnes of high HP C4 UrS cars out there and almost none of them need vents for excess heat. Something is wrong with this story.

I have always wonder why Audi thought it was a great idea to put a fuel filter next to the hot side of a turbo on the URS4?
