    urs4 powersteering coolant pipes

I've just got around to fitting my FMIC for the urs4 and realised that there's an issue with clearance on the power steering coolant pipes . My friend, who's helped with the installation of the FMIC thinks that we can do without the coolant pipes, I think that Audi must have put the coolant pipes on the car for a reason as the coolant presumably gets very hot.

Is it healthy for the life of the pump/fluid to do a coolant pipe "delete" or should I relocate the pipes as seen in this Audifans thread?

The clearances don't seem quite the same on my urs4 as on the pictures in the thread although there is room for fiddling.

    thanks for any advice.

Relocate them, it should be straightforward enough. As you say, they're there for a reason.

Get some pics up when you're done please.

Either relocate the PS fluid cooling tube on the radiator (or A/C condensor) higher than it was (above the FMIC) OR...remove it and swap in an Automatic transmission oil cooler which you can locate where the OE side-mounted intercooler used to be. (You will need to fabricate a bracket, etc).

Thanks for the replies and clarification.

I'll probably go for a similar setup to the one on the audi s6 on the audifans link. My setup will be a little more homebrew (zip ties etc) but it'll be sturdy. I might even relocate it in the engine bay but that might be a little trickier. I'll post some pics once done.

I quite like the idea of doing it differently with the automatic transmission cooler setup. Are they readily available?

Don't put it in the engine bay (It's *HOT* in there). You want a location that gets airfow.

I don't know the names of your friendly local auto parts store ("FLAPS") like NAPA or AutoPro in North America but I did find this (you can find cheaper versions) in the UK:

We are a family owned business and have been supplying quality products and excellent customer service worldwide since 1988. We are currently open and operating as normal. However we currently have longer lead times than usual; the lead time for transmissions is around 4-5 weeks. Parts orders are being dispatched as normal. We ship worldwide.

            Radiator query- FMIC clearance.

I've got a quick query and was wondering if anyone could help please?

This is related to the FMIC installation. After fiddling with the FMIC I managed to get a decent fit as seen in the pic here :-

I want to move the inter-cooler up a little bit on the left hand side of the pic, but there is a bit of plastic that is part of the radiator which is in the way. The picture below shows the problem. Would it be OK to cut this part of the radiator away, it doesn't seem to be hooked up to to any hoses or electrical connectors?

            thanks again for any help.

Currently still working on a good place to place the pipes for the power steering.

That's the radiator drain! I wouldn't touch it.
