By way of comparison... The Bosch 550cc will comfortably provide ~450bhp with IDC in 75% territory on a 4bar FPR. It looks like a superior injector to me on paper - even if you need EV6 to EV1 adapters to plug them in.

They don't fit perfectly either, you need spacers.

              Thanks prj

Tone is difficult to convey in text isn't it?

However as I am in the Siberia of I5 tuning down under, I need to rely on previous experiences from on here and chipsets sent from Europe. I have owned my S2 for the last 8 years and have put around 130000km on it in that time. No-one touches this stuff down under as there were only 25 examples imported. I am not a complete idiot and have done a lot of research and asked (and continue to ask) lots of questions. I am comfortable with Bram's chips as it will be an identical setup to how his was. My only real query was relating to injector size. I have now done the conversion and see that 440ccm =42lb. So I'm good.

So unless you can provide me a list of any companies that do custom tuning for the inline 5 in Australia, I'll take my chances with what I can get.
              Cheers

Dmitri and I have been looking at the Volvo 415cc injectors as an alternative (150 968) - these seem to be broadly called the 'green giant' and are often advertised as a 440cc/42lb injector incorrectly.

We are hunting down the latency information on these Volvo injectors at the moment... Long story short I even had to learn a wee tiny bit about ME7 in this process. There are other suitable looking injectors around, but they cannot be used blindly as the latency/lag characteristic varies widely sometimes. That and there is a fuel pressure related aspect to it as well.

100% agreed with Dmitri that custom mapping is the only way to safely go with anything other than factory injectors.

Injector size is only one parameter - and it is very often misquoted. Injector latency and also minimum pulsewidth play a large role as well.
If you use said chips, at the very least verify your AFR's using WBO2 and also boost levels.

If there is no one who can map your ECU over there, then it would be best for you to get an aftermarket standalone ECU.

I will check AFR's and boost levels mate. If no good then will try aftermarket route. Problem will still be tuning it down here though eh?
I'll let you know how it turns out in the next few weeks

unless i misread...have you guys looked at the long 630's?

i find it easy to get 550's and then 630's in short and long versions

basically 550's seem to be the best swap injector as long as you have the ev1 connector...

It's quite easy to use EV6/14 to EV1 adapters. No need to rape the harness.

@Thuppu - totally agreed on that - seen those adapters on a few sites now... Added complication with the relatively short EV6/14 body is the need for spacer and additional O-ring for plug and play with S2/RS2 fuel rail - but again these seem to be available in the US aftermarket part shops. The 550 is a great looking injector on paper.
