  • Standard RS2 boost? (with video)

Ive had a search and seem to find different answers . . .
6 months ago I deSuperchipped my RS2 so therefore it should be stock as a rock.
Now with a VDO boost gauge on I have seen 24PSI, is this standard for an RS2? I guess it could be a part of the over boost function?
I saw 24PSI yesterday (the gauge lives in my glove box and my brother pulled it out) in second gear.

Here is a clip of when I first fitted the booast gauge (4th gear), here it seems to touch 23PSI:

Explain how you 'desuperchipped' it please.

Removed the chip (only one) and put the wastegate back to standard and plugged the N75 back up.

OK - you did it OK then... From memory max boost on stock RS2 is 1.3bar (19psi) which reduces towards redline... I can look up the exact max boost profile if you want more confidence.

Your claim for 23-24psi seems too high alright... unless your ambient air pressure is ~4psi (200mbar) lower than 'nominal' 1bar

Has the WG cap been messed around with - do you get 0.4bar (6psi) max with the N75 unplugged ?

What does your gauge read at idle and on overrun ?

RS2 stock programmed boost is spike 21, taper 16.5 at 6500 and dropping rapidly to 10.5 at 7000.

Um... most (ALL?) chip sets come as a pair: Boost chip on the board with the MAP sensor and fuel/timing chip on the other board. Why was there only one "Super"chip?

The "chipping" was done here in New Zealand so I dont know if they did it differently?

Here are some pics of the ECU opened while we replaced the chip (though we would have to do both chips but it turned out Superchips only put one in):

                  Hmmm...

                  3 questions:

                  1. What is written on the white label with the blue mark on the Boost chip by the 300 kPa MAP sensor?
                  2. Which chip did you remove/change? (Boost or fuel/timing?)
                  3. What in h*ll is one the underside of that fuel/timing chip?

I havent tried unplugging the N75.

Superchips method of "chipping" the car was to change the fuel/timing chip with raised maps (more everything ), add huge wastegate spring and leave the boost chip untouched.

Yes and to Q3 - that is a scrambler chip - throw it away.

Oh and btw - the later (immo) ecu on the RS2 runs about 1 psi more boost in the mid range... who knows why they bothered to make such a small tweak. The max boost profile for stock rs2 is broadly as follows... immo version changes in brackets

                            2000 18.4
                            2500 19.5 (20.9)
                            3000 19.3 (20.4)
                            3500 19.5 (20.6)
                            4000 19.7 (20.0)
                            4500 19.0 (20.2)
                            5000 19.5
                            5500 17.5
                            6000 16.8
                            6500 16.5
                            7000 10.6

For anyone wanting to convert these to bar, divide by 14.5 to get 'gauge' pressure. Bear in mind that some analog gauges are not deadly accurate and that if you are ~2psi off that its probably ok - if in doubt get it measured on a precision instrument.

Your idle and overrun seems ok then at -0.5bar and -0.7bar respectively... I've seen stronger vac readings in my time but these are nothing of concern.
