    TPS sensor values..

Found something interesting playing with Vagcom. The throttle body on my car gives a value of 8.3 degrees at idle position, and a value of 97.3 degrees on wide open throttle.

I was curious about the WOT reading so i plugged in another throttle body and it reads 8.3 degrees at idle, and 100.7 degrees on wide open throttle.

From what i can see on the 2nd throttle body, if i open it until vagcom reads 97.3 degrees there is up to 2mm clearance at the throttle stop. As shown in attached pic.

Question is, probably one for Paul or Prj, how does motronic use these values? For example does it consider anything over 100 being WOT, or does it learn the calibration on first run after a power cycle? Basically do i file the end stop on mine to increase its range, or will it make no difference.

Would love to hear what value others have seen.

    Cheers,

    Mark

    Adjusting the Throttle Position Sensor

Can't help on the electronics per se but I can offer this to help with switch adjustment:

      Testing the G69/F60 Throttle Switch

This isn't exactly what you are looking for but it might help anyway:

Testing the F60 Closed Throttle (Idle) Switch is as follows:

Across Pins 4 and 6 on the switch:
      Closed = 0 ohms (continuity)
Open throttle (slightly) = infinite ohms (open)
If either fails, adjust switch as per procedure above.

Testing the G69 Throttle Position Potentiometer:

Across Pins 1 and 2 on the switch:
Must be 1500 to 2600 ohms

Across Pins 2 and 3 on the switch:
      Throttle closed = 750 to 1300 ohms
As throttle is opened from closed to WOT = increase to 3600 ohms
      If NO, replace sensor.

Tps is directly used to control boost. In the event of maf failure it is also used as substitute measure of air entering the engine for drive home mode.

At 97% you should be getting max boost ok

In short - you want to see a good 5V on the tps input to ecu

Does voltage not vary with TPS position?

Sorry yeah - i meant to say 5V at WOT of course. Tis pretty much 0v at idle as seen on logs.

Thanks for the links, great info as always. This pic seems to answer my question. Will check resistance tomorrow for sanity sake, but it seems anything over 86 degrees is enough whatever resistance range that falls into.

Found another spare throttle body and plugged it in to find it also gives a reading of 100.7 degrees when fully open, thats two of them reading 100.7 and the one in the car reading 97.3. A few minutes later with the Dremel i have it reading 100.7 and opens the throttle plate just a shade past 90 degrees the same as the other two. Time will tell if it actually makes any difference for the ECU...

                    tps range test

i tested my tps today everything ok until final test , i could only get 2400 ohms at full throttle not 3600 as stated , so is this the problem im having trying to get full boost.

You should check range via VAG-COM before jumping to conclusions.
But it is often the throttle is stuck in some way, too much slack in cable etc.
