    audi 80 tdi boost

hi all,i know iv got a question about a tdi but this sites one of the best (if not the best) iv come across for solving problems.
im wanting to up the turbo boost on my 1.9 audi 80 tdi with a boost control valve,at the moment it's running 0.8 bar i know this due to me fitting a boost gauge the other month.
iv read somewhere that its not recomended to remove the n75 valve is this right?????
if so how can i pipe the control inline with it????
if it isnt right and i could remove the n75 valve how do i go about doing this???????

    any help would be great

They are simple to fit , its just a ball bearing and spring fitted before the n75 , instead of it opening at 0.8 bar you wind in spring to open at 1.05 bar any more and bye bye turbo ! look for Dawes Device type , usually home made made out of plumbing parts , !290579579646 ebay number , point to remember is you run on boost to open n75 not vacuum like A4 ect

Not sure if its the same, but with the 90/110bhp tdi engines you can pop a diode in on the MAP sensor to measure the boost pressure, this gives a 0.3v drop, upping boost, or try swapping the sensor out for a different one, standard on my car was 2.5 bar Map sensor, I use a 3bar Map sensor now, gives it a hike in boost. Also you can wind the pump up and stick bigger nozzles in. There a guy on here "Diesel Des", he is the king of Tdi tuning and has a Mk2 tdi golf, making 200bhp at the wheels, it was running compound turbos at one point, might be worth dropping him a PM. For very little effort my 110 tdi ibiza, makes prob 150-160bhp now, and can sit with my chipped S6!!

thanks guys!!!knew you guys wouldnt disapoint ill pm diesel des and pick his brains lol (hopefuly) and ill have a look at the other ways you guys said aswell.
if i remember right my turbos a t2 so i might even consider a bigger turbo something like 2.5 tdi turbo

iv got a set of 110hp injectors on the way but i didnt think you could turn pump on on 1z engines am i thinking wrong?????

diode hacks are equally worrisome - depends on what safety routines are effectively messed with doing such things - maybe not such a big deal for oil burners and the stronger internals they are generally built with but a proper remap with matching nozzles seems a much more intelligent way to go IMHO... seems to me that the big torque from such conversions on the 1.9TDi has consequences for clutch, DM flywheel and drivetrain as a whole. Thats the niggles I hear about when folk start tinkering with those anyway.

Yeah, never really had any bother with diodes, apart from overboost errors at the top end, it is worth checking with vagcom or gauge though, i use the different MAP sensor now. I made a decat pipe, fitted a panel filter and went for a set of PP764 Bosio nozzles, all put together with a home made tuning box for the pump. I agree that mapping is a better option, but I wouldn't really see any gains over my set up, I can tweek a pot until the pumps cuts out, it simply cant' get anymore fuel through it. I get 50mpg average and the wee car is rapid point to point. I was running the VW transporter nozzels, but changed to the bigger ones, I then had to repalce the DMF for a SMF VR6 unit. running sweet at the moment. The tuning box thing is basically a modified evry mod, have a hunt about on TDIclub.com. Again I'm not sure if these mods would fit you engine.

PS: I still have a full set of VW transport .216 in the garage! Just incase you find the 110's run out of power :-) give me a shout.

Ivan, I know someone local that might take those transporter nozzle off your hands... he is also looking to do the SMF conversion... his DMF is shafted already on stock setup at 120k miles. Hopefully see you later.

Hi Paul, yeah no probs, Nozzles have less than 10k on them, I originally had them in a 5pot A6 and then briefly in the ibiza, but the lure of more HP called. I have a set of 5. I have a full DMF in my garage, it has only 60k on it, removed just because it slipped briefy with the bigger nozzles, was fine with the transporter ones.

funny you say about mapping.right here i go hope you can keep up lol.
iv got two ecus ones from a l reg tdi and the other is whats on my car now also a l reg tdi. Iv seen a guy on ebay that will send me two chips that are quite cheap, now iv used this guy before on a 3ltr cav i had and i was realy impressed with the rresult(quarter mile low 14's.
Right the one thats spare is plug and play but the one thats in my car is fixed in why is this ???when they are both l reg 1z engines?????
Im thinking of just taking the chip holders out of the spare and put them in my ecu so it then makes mine a plug and play but dont know anyone that would do it,have you guys got any ideas????? In the wakefield area would be great.

                    hope that make sense

Sound like your ECU is coded to the key/immobiliser, I know Des originally had alot of issues when he fitted the tdi engine into the Mk2 golf. I'll chat to him aswell and see what he reckons about tuning your engine, what is the engine code?

I was talking to my mate, he said "The 80 1z is a bit limited. Need to find out if the pump has a round connection or rectanular 8 or 10 pin like my ibiza. If round pin it needs a remap, but theyre not great".

just had a look at my pump and it seems to be the round one,so ill have to get the chips off ebay.dose anyone know somewhere in south yorkshire that could solder them in????ill use the holders out of the spare ecu so it'll be plug and play

me mate gave me some 110hp injectors the other day so iv just put them in.there is a difference with the way it sets off and it seems to pull better aswell.

so to update the list iv done so far is
                            decat
                            straight through exhaust
                            110hp injectors
                            performance filter
                            drilled air box
                            egr valve deleted
