Help Scary Noise No Oil Pressure

Ok started the car this morning, horrible knocking noise form engine no oil pressure. Turned it off straight away sat scared for a while started it up again all seems fine, any ideas? Has done this three time in last few days and engine oil warning light comes on sometimes, checked oil level is ok. Could it be the oil pump?

Hi, sounds like the pump ... but could also be a blockage caused by sludge build up ? - is the oil filter good quality, cheap ones often miss out an anti drain valve ???

could be the oil pump drive on the crank is broken? Could be lots of things... take the sump & pump off and have a look.. I wouldn't be running it again until you know whats causing it

It could be the one way valve on the oil passage going to the head. If it is stuck the hydro tappets knock massively, the oil pressure sender sees 0 oil pressure.

could very well be the drive, i would remove all auxalary belts and turn the engine over by hand on the crank bolt to see if you can feel something slipping. Also you could pull the fuel pump realy and run the engine over on the starter and take the turbo oil feed off to see if your still pumping oil ?
