    Looking for data: UrS6 AANs with hex plug under oil press switch

    The UrS4 AANs came with an oil pressure switch and an oil pressure sender. The UrS6s came with just the switch, no pressure sender (no oil pressure gauge either). Some or all of these UrS6 AANs came with a hex plug in the UrS4 pressure sender/switch location. I am trying to figure out when (if any) there was a break and the hex plug was no longer installed and the engine was just cast shut in that location.

    I am hoping for feedback from later model UrS6 owners, e.g. 96 and 97 model year cars, and am hoping they can check if their AANs have the hex plug or not and their engine number and then reply to this post. (Thanks in advance)

    Here is the general pressure switch/sender info:

    Here is the hex plug:

    Here is one way to find the engine number (in this case, 19008):

    Here is another way to confirm the engine number (also works for AANs):

    Hi,
    I have a AAN from '96 and can confirm there was a hex plug fitted to mine, engine number to follow as I've had to send away my log book and its pi$$ing down with rain...

        Surely they didn't blank that off with casting late in life - did they ?

        I can see the bean counters removing the aux gauges and blanking off unused ports though.

            19653 is from the 96 Model Year (MY) and was built in Sept 95. If there is a break point, I think it was in Dec. 95 (but I am not sure about this anymore).

              I *thought* that they had gone to just a cast boss late in the AAN run but now it turns out that there is a check valve (to keep the oil in the head), Item 25, behind Item 26 "adapater" in the UrS4s so having a check valve behind a hex plug in the UrS6s is very likely. But I have also seen a photo of the switch at the bottom and the hex plug at the top, where there is no room for the check valve.

                If it's any help, both AAN's have been fitted with Audi OEM oil pressure senders

                Rains slowing up, I'll post the other engine number in a bit

                    020183 = Oct. 95 (96 MY) build.

                    Thanks. Still looking for some later build AANs, e.g 1/96 to 5/97 to see what they have.
