Motoroil, 4,5l or 5l with filter change?

I`ve read somewhere that the engine holds 4,5 liters, and the filter holds 0,5 liters. Does this mean 4,5 liters when changing filter as well, or a total of 5 liters when changing the filter?

Put 4,5 liters at first, run the engine for a while and then check the level, should be close to the max. 5 liters gives you a slight overfill

I filled my engine last week, it took almost all of the 5l to fill it to the max line. There was perhaps 100ml left.

That said, it was a fully rebuilt engine so I imagine with some residual oil in the engine and turbo & oil cooler lines 5l would have over-filled.

I'd go with the above advice, 4.5l then top up if neccesary.
