So it looks like my IAT is reading far too high. Checked after the fun drive home and with my resistor across and wire disconnected it showed 502ohms which is what I'd say it should be using the chart. Saves having to buy a new IAT.
Might do some experimenting now to get best results but not dropping below 480ohms when engine cold and 20deg ambient.
Thats a good result. I wish I knew what I was doing when it comes to electrics. I will attempt to test mine this weekend and report the findings. I assume it is tested with the engine running...?

You need to test first when cold and disconnect one of the leads if it's soldered. Then re-attach, go out and get car fully warmed up, come back and repeat by removing / unsoldering one of the leads. Resistance at 20degrees should be around 480-495 ohms. And should not be more than around 530 when hot. Mine affected the performance noticably when it was showing 540ohms...

Ok, now then. At 23 degrees before starting I got 498 ohms. After starting and running it till the fan cut in I got 540 ohms, bang! straight away. Then after a couple of seconds it slowly started to fall to 534.

So thats a new sensor right?

I do have a spare RS2 item, which plugs on instead of the soldered jobbie on my 3B. Can anyone help with any part numbers for the wiring loom side? I would really like to convert to a plug in one...

For all of us wth 3Bs considering a new sensor, would it not be a better idea to convert? Pros, cons?

                  Thanks,

I'm feeling you can't just swap and soldered item for a plug in item because the parameters are different. One increases resistance as it gets warmer and the other decreases. No doubt someone will correct me if i'm wrong...

You can fit ABY or RS2 item instead - its the same behaviour... only thing you need is a JPT-2 plug... easy found from 'polevolt' with female pins that you crimp onto the wires where the 3B loom has soldered joints. Easy job.
