vagcom on 1992 audi 80

trying to read the codes from my dutch audi 80 but getting no response from the white plug, got power etc on the black

worked on an 80 cab last week so pretty sure its not a software issue

any ideas?

Remove main fuse/relay panel and check under it if the wire connected to white plug is ok.

Check that K & L wires arent swapped on the white plug - seen that a couple times.

What engine is it? I recently tried to connect to a 91 10v coupe and couldnt get anything out of it.

I have had that before too - NG motor ... have a feeling they use some more ancient protocol that needs special tickling on VAGCOM ... but never found a resolution... then I bought a proper 1551 dinosaur on eBay for oddballs like that - it talked to my early V6 AAH motor (before it killed itself) when vagcom wouldnt play ball... a day with a protocol analyser would probably find the answer
