    Anyone good with Vauxhalls?

Firstly i appologise for posting this on the forum. I have spent 2 nights now trying to diagnose a problem with my sisters Zafira and you would all not believe the dog 5hit i have read. People seem to just randomly come out with their own diagnosis that is just way off! Chavvy vauxhall forums suck! Just a different sort of person on there.

    Anyway over!

    Problem....

1.8 petrol zafira with exhaust emissions light and traction control light on the dash. The car does not like to idle, uses loads of fuel, but drives ok. It has had fault codes read at 2 separate places, one saying ECU fault, other O2 sensor (which I replaced).

    I have read allsorts:

    MAF issue
    Thermostat
    Cat issue

If it was an S2 I would of looked at MAF,ISV etc. Anyone got any ideas? I am More likely to get a decent answer here than on the other forums.

Just found this which i didnt know about.

No need for Tech 2 or any sort of code readers and Most of Vauxhall dealers don’t know about this....

When you get into the car you know the key has 3 clicks first on for aftermarket cd player and whatever else and the second one the dash comes on third the starter kicks in

before you put the key into the ignition Make sure that you Press the Break and the Throttle to the Floor ( max )
Then turn the key on until The dash board come on and DONT START THE CAR
Wait 2 sec and keep the pedals Down to the floor
the service light under the management light should start flashing

it will flash 4 times leaving 2 second space representing each number
      Zero gets 10 flashes

      for exampleP0110
the light will flash ten times Break (2sec Or 1 not sure) then once, (2sec) once again, then ten

if you have more than one code it will stop for a break then gives the next code

however if you don’t have any code stored or pending it will start Flashing and keeps on flashing until you release the pedals.

ive not tried this before but will next time i get the chance.

Its kind of guess work i know but its low cost - id try cleaning the maf carefully - i would have thought this could flag up a lambda code, also the egr valve.

PO130 AND PO135 these are for the oxygen sensors one on the exhaust manifold and one near the cat.

I wonder if i should replace maf and these 2

Personally I'd just replace the two sensors and I bet it would clear. I think Dest is your man here as he knows his Vauxhall's.
Just some finishing touches to do now

Have you tried www.migweb.co.uk. that's the best forum for vauxhalls. Like all forums there are people with knowledge that can help and some who have part knowledge and can put you in the *****. Hope you sort it out.

My be worth doing some searches on www.vauxhallownersnetwork.co.uk there are some very knowledgeable peeps on there.
Regarding the post above about flashing the codes, you can also do it on older Vauxhalls by jumping two pins on the diagnostics connector, known as the paperclip test on the forum I mentioned
