    Rover V8s on lpg-opinions

been offerd a 3.9 discovery running lpg.
asked advice from a local landy garage bloke who said steer clear of v8s with lpg kits as he's had 2 blow headgaskets
is that lpg and v8s or him being crap at fitting the kits
    any experiences/info before I buy?
    ta in advance

if its setup properly lpg is no more likely to cause headgasket issues than petrol is, my dad fitted his own 3l senator with lpg at 120k it finally died at 200k miles and was driven flat out everywhere, towed everything that needed towed and never missed a beat, never even had an oil change in that time lol

LPG masks other problems, see it a lot in my garage as the tight cn*ts use it in LPG constantly.

early or cheap no sequential kits are crap yes as its fork lift truck technology!

Depends on what type of kit is fitted. If it is a single point injection kit then generally the Vaporiser that is fitted will be working on it's limits for a 3.9/4.0/4.2/4.6.
If it is a multipoint system, they are much better.

It is commonly known that LPG runs slightly hotter, to compensate for this it is very important you use plugs to suit and it is advised that you change both plugs and leads as offer as every 6000miles or 6 months. Make sure the cooling system is tip top as most landy's have been off road and the radiator will generally have lost all it's cooling fins or it is compacted with leaves or mud.

I have done 70,000+ miles over 15 years in 3 gas converted v8 Landy's with no head gasket issues.

My bobtail runs LPG only without petrol and was used every fortnight for 4 years at off road sites around the UK with no head issues

              Thankd for the info guys!
I know it s not a Landy site but also know from other threads how many current and ex Landy owners there are here.
@Tonks-its an OMNIA kit with multi point
Other stuff has put me off this Disco though so I think it's back to looking for a TD to tune up instead

Before my RR sport i had a RR 4.6 with lpg and was single point and not multi point but because it was my first and probably my last lpg vehicle i certainly didnt do any of the advice bits that tonks is saying which is probably why my head gasket went

I know its a great forum, that's why I would rather not see the info diluted
What i mean is that maybe it should have been in the 'open topic' section,I have seen other websites that are just overun with threads that have got nothing to do with the the main .Starts off with one thead then it snowballs.Sorry it's just my opinion and I am sure I am not alone
