UrS4 is as 5- and 6-speed and as automatic.

I thought all S4 cars had 6 speed gearbox ??
could this be an automatic that was converted ?
To answer Rocco's question, the first AANs (to about the UrS6) had the paper and metal head gaskets. At some point they switched to all metal with the UrS6. The replacement headgaskets are all metal now.
Regarding the transmission, the early UrS4s with manual transmissions were fitted with the 5 spd CBD from the factory.

early AAN cars had distributors like 3B`s, 5spd, and paper headgaskets as stated above in sure the AAN was offered in non S cars in germany, i.e 100 avant quattros........................ could be wrong but i am sure the were some sold.
I really doubt that the AAN was offered in anything other that the UrS4. That said there were early build UrS4 avants so maybe that is what you are thinking about.
There were also inline five cylinder gasoline (petrol) AAR engines in the 92 model line so it might be possible by this point in time (2011) that some of these 100 five cylinders were converted by their owners to AANs at some point in their lives. I would bet more than a fiver that no AANs were factory installed into a normal, non-UrS4, avant or sedan. Note: the early UrS4s were designated Audi 100 S4s so that might have lead to your confusion.
A fiver is one the table if somebody can show me a factory build sticker for an early C4 100 with an AAN that is not an UrS4.
Here is a build sticker from a "Euro" 93 Audi 100 avant that ended up in Canada. It had a 5 cylinder AAT diesel engine.

yes could be possible, but i think i could install as a direct fit ANY 01E 6 speed gearboxes?? because as some in the forum sais before,my 01E 5 speed box it is much the same as the 6 speed like CBL,CRB,CGR,etc.... same flywheel,propshaft,mounts....
and about the head gasket.... is it possible i got one if it never was replaced before?

Transmissions have nothing to do with flywheels, prop shafts, etc., i.e. an 01E will work with a single mass flywheel or a dual mass flywheel, provided the clutch is correct for that application and the required spacer is there (or not, as needed). Similarly an 01E will work in a B3/B4 chassis with a short prop shaft or a C4 with the longer prop shaft. As in the diagram I posted above, the CBL and CBD are very close to being the same, except for the gear ratios of 4,5 and 6 (and the fact that the CBL has the 6th gear).

Pretty good deal Rocco!Congratulations the car looks great! It does not worth to change the gearbox. My brother drives the same car it is almost the same as the 6 speed box.
AAN Headgasket PNs and changes from paper/metal to metal/metal
I knew that I had been around on this story before. Searched my home forum for the previous investigation. The results are as follows:
The original UrS AAN engines came with a combination paper and metal head gasket. Old paper/metal headgasket number is 034103383AB.
When I asked my good friend Kate about that PN, she says:
"Dropped on 30/09/1994, please use as replacement: 034103383AD"
383AD is the all metal headgasket and now is the only good PN in the system, for the 3B, AAN, ABY and ADU.
The Sept 30, 1994 date is very early in the UrS6 model year (MY) so if you have a 1995 MY UrS6, if it is very early build, you probably have the 383AB paper/metal headgasket.

yes of course i understand you
the same as you can do in a 3B engine..using the parts for 6 speed upgrade

hehe¡¡ if i fit a RS2 turbo with 1.9bar i will know very soon if is it paper or metallic
in my 3B engine i destroyed it in 20kms since i installed the RS2 turbo boosting 2.0bar ,and it was destroyed in the 5 cylinders ¡¡
i will clean the engine bay and i will check visually if it has paper or metallic....because i think it is possible to know
thanks for all the info friend
