Coil pack upgrade from 034 - Anyone using same ?

    Coil pack upgrade from 034.

In the text you'll see 034 make a number of claims for this kit. Is anyone on here using the kit on their S2 or RS2 ?

How do they find it ?

    Recommended or otherwise ?

    Thanks.

    p.s.

The EFI Express kit is better value for money or you can make the RS4 direct on coil conversion DIY for the same price.

I ran with this kit on my old avant, it was easy to install once I'd got a bracket made up to mount them on. Worked flawlessly for me, but when I bought the RS2 with new OEM coilpacks I decided I'd rather keep it stock. Personal preference, not anything against the 034 kit.

Use Marc at EFI if you can, less hype and the products live up to there descriptions

As a matter of interest is there a way to test how well each oem ABY coil pack is working ?

When the car has no misfire, but one wants to check that they are all working as well as they should ?

            Thanks.

David i have this 034 kit fitted to my car by MRC and i've had no problems with them at all.

Doug and JP both use these coilpacks on their cars as well. Perhaps you should ask them what they think of them.

@David - some pretty exotic test gear is needed to test such coilpacks.

I personally dont like any of the bulkhead coil kits as they look pure shyte to me... hearing good reports about B7 RS4 and TTRS coilpacks which have integrated amplifiers - simplifying the wiring onto a little loom and the joy of modular plug and play coilpacks... means you can carry a spare coil in the boot for that awful 'oh dear I have killed another coil' moment.

I could knock up a loom for you, but seeing as EFI (and others I am sure) have stuff off the shelf in ready made kits it seems a no brainer to do that !

                  two issues key for me

                  1) IF a coil fails in the EFI kit you can buy a replacement from anywhere that stocks the coil, if it fails on the 034 kit you have to buy from 034 and have a significant lead time.
                  2) EFI is $200 less

Pays your money takes your choice as both do the SAME job

BTW Repo has used both and couldn't believe that the EFI kit had the same or better performance for less money.

                    All,

Thanks for further replies, as soon as the engine is back from JP, I'll see how the oem ABY coils / pos' fair going forward, they were working fine, before the head gasket blew and it was all taken apart.

Turbo, injectors, and clutch need to come first before discretionary items such as the coil upgrade, but wanted to know in advance nonetheless.

                    Thanks again.

                      i had a 034 Motorsport coil failure

and of course i dont like to wait one month or surelly more with import taxes..waiting for one coil....

so i decided to use Audi TTRS coils, they are cheap, easy to use ,works well and you can have some as spare...and always one with you in your car...for replace it with a future possible failure ,and more if you are traveling out of home and your garage

Just a thought - if a single original coilpack dies, could just the faulty coil be replaced with a TTRS or RS4 item? (bypassing the POS for that coil).
Or do they need to be a full matching set?

I assume it'll produce a different spark...and therefore different combustion characteristics. Could lead to a funny feeling engine?

I wouldn't say having an odd one is a great idea....

having searched for RS4 /TTRS coils, where did you buy your TT versions from?...
