    Bosch F5DPOR vs Colder ones

    Hi partners¡

does someone can explain the main advantages of the original Bosch F5DPOR spark plugs over the other Bosch colder ones ??

and wich are the differences whem tuning or with different air intake temps or fuels??

i always used the F5DPOR,but i really dont know the advantages or not with the others...or whem others could be better for some kind of engine setups...i dont know maybe others can accept more timing advance?

i think its like this; the org heatnumber ( digit 5).. you does have to change the plugs IF you do have some problem with the org number; read if you burn out the org plugs over the very short time ( the cap are increasing ) you need to change to " colder " numbers.. i think i will prefer the "hot " ones befor the " cold ones
IF you have some problem with the "cold" ones; you does have the symtones like this; the car will NOT go nice at idle, spec in the street...and spec in some days after you have change the sparkplugs; some experience with ngk and others sparkplugs; and some really #¤¤¤", i use to try champions, they does go "wider" in the heatnumber
to increase some more HP, i think you need the rollin road to test it out
if you may encrease the gap, you may got some more power( about 7 hp every 0,1mm encreasin gap) i dont know if iit true; but i use the job car with 1,2mm gap; no prob with that; what so ever..( org engine ; crane ps 91, 0 Kohm cable, no hat, ngk 6 SINGEL point)

In ye olden days the heat range of the plug was determined by how dirty it got. Too cold a plug would foul up and missfire, too hot a plug will burn up and can cause pre detonation.

this is how I understood it. Too "hot" and they don't conduct enough heat away from the electrode. Too "cold" and the electrode fouls and ignition is poor causing rough running

My 4 of F5DPOR failed yesterday.I think Bosch is having QC problem on this spark plugs.I have had over 15 of F5DPOR failed with the same issue.
The white solid insulator came off and turned around freely which caused the misfire.I also have heard someone got the white part at the Tip came off
and falled down into the chamber.FR5DTC is the best bet.Definitely,It's the copper. The cons is It will be last for 15K-30K miles compared with the Platin's which has more life span.

BKR7EIX/BKR8EIX are NGK iridium replacements the 7 is a direct heat replacement on a high boost engine seeing hotter running temps you can run the 8 but poss drop back to 7 over winter. when I was running 32psi on the street on my old engine I went to 9's. The ceramic seperating from the metal nut and spinning causing missfires happened non stop to me on the F5DPOR's then I also know other people that run them for years with no issues.

If you had the F5DPOR manufactured before 2007.the built quality should be fine.I found the ceramic came off mostly from the later F5DPOR.I also purchased the F5DPOR from
dealer and aftermarket shop.unfortunately,They were all do the same thing.

So for a high compression turbo would you want to drop to the next plug colder?

how about the bosch FR5DTC? They are tri electrode, much cheaper than the F5dp0r and tried by Marc (efiexpress) with great success.

FR5DP is commonly used with 1.8T/TFSI coils.

yes but most people i know with tuned 1.8T and TFSI engines switch to F5DP0R

I have used BKR8EIX with E85 and 2.8bar boost, EGT just before turbo was 850 C. No missfires and the spark pulgs looked nice after some runs.
I was thinking that when running ~2.5bar with pump gas and meth injection, then i'll switch to BKR9EIX, because the EGT should be with this combo higher than with E85, but we will see how it goes.

I ran original coils but one failed lately (misfire over 2.3bar) and i am going over to RS3 coils.
