    turbo oil lines gaskets

Since I am in the process of changing turbo on my 5 pit diesel I am looking for the best option when installing the oil lines.

    New gaskets on there own?
    Or
A little sealant on both sides of the new gaskets

Or any other recommendations to save leakage.

When I changed my turbo a while back I bought some gasket paper from my local parts shop as a quick fix. I didnt bother using any paste as I heard that if any of the paste got into the oil it could cause problems.

I later replaced the paper gaskets with propper ones that I bought from Quattro Corner but Im not sure if Peter can supply ones for an oil burner or if he only specializes in quattros. Maybe worth a phonecall.

Hope this helps in some way.

I tried Pete he said he doesn't do them. The turbo is a k24 from s2. I have since bought new gaskets from audi. I was thinking very little gasket sealant around the edge of gasket away from the oil hole.

      Just getting everything ready.

I was just taking advice from others regarding the paste. Mine havent leaked since I changed them without using paste. I just made sure that all surfaces were clean and free of any dirt/grim.

I also made new oil line gaskets of gasket paper. I didn't use paste and no leaks so far.

I've heard of small bits of silicone paste being removed from a failed turbo... would steer clear if I were you.

Having replaced the oil feed gasket 3 times in the past couple of months I can tell you:
            • The bits are cheap from Audi, cost me £4 for a 2x new gaskets, studs and nuts
            • Get a very clean surface - use a blade to clean it - on the oil lines
            • Most likely to leak is the inlet as that's where the pressure is
            • It may weep oil the first few runs, but it'll bake very quickly and seal
            • Nuts are rated to 10nm but I used 14-15nm to get a good seal. 18-20nm is too much, you'll end up replacing the studs, trust me!
            • Put the oil line on before the water line
            • Also replace the copper rings between the turbo and water line fixings
