    Massive failure

Just put new oil filter on filled her up with lovely fresh oil, after 20 miles thought filter had come loose oil all over floor. Still tight but no way is it keeping the oil in the engine now it's all over the road outside the neighbours house, bad times. Anyone had trouble with new filters before I'm thinking the seal has blown?

ohh ****, get lots cement dust on the road asap and hope that the council doesn't do you for environmental pollution.

Havent heard of filters failing before, did you maybe leave it a bit lose?

    Good luck..

Did you put a little bit of oil on the seal before you first tightened it ?
If not the seal may have bunched up when you tightened it and then it is not sitting square and will not seal, a friend of mine did this once.

I had something similar, its was actually the oil thermostat housing was cracked.
Maybe you have pinched the seal? First things first, find where its leaking from.

Get some concrete acid from the local builders merchants its cheap and cleans off spilt oil really quick

Took old/new filter off, checked seal seems ok, no old seal still on it, can't see anything obvious put new bosch filter on everything back to normal. Strange indeed. The seal on the previous filter which was Framm, seems a fraction to big for the circumferance of the filter Not sure if it was just a dodgy filter but car is OK now.

Fram filter, that was your problem right there. I wouldn't use there filters on a lawn mower. Stick to Audi / Mann filters or Knecht. Knecht i'm not so sure about any more as i had one fail recently on my fathers car, filter element came detached and was rattling around inside the can
