    Servicing

    Hi,
Firstly great forum loads of info and helpful topics just struggling to find some info on basic items. I am going to do a service on my 1991 s2 3b before putting it back on the road it was involved in an accident before i bought it and have just got it repaired put the porsche brake upgrade 16" avus on it and koni dampers.

During the service I am looking at doing cambelt, brake fluid change, coolent change, oil filter, and fuel filter should i be thinking about doing diff/gearbox oil change is it hard? what oil? Any thing else I should be looking at? the car has been stood for 3-4 years.

I need to change the HT leads as they look to be knackered plastic peeling in parts. I have seen that I can get a set of Magnecore 8mm leads for £95 but it says that they do not have the oem boot is this a problem? pete reeves has a set of original ones for £120 what does everyone think?

Any help/advice would be greatfully received.

    Thanks

    Guy

I'd do the diff and gearbox oil whilst your at it, can't rember what grades I used on mine but it made a positive difference both to the feel of the box and amount of noise from the rear diff.

Plug leads, I'd go for the OE Beru items from Pete, they fit properly unlike the Magnecore ones.

Get hold of some Fuchs Sintopoid or any quality fully synthetic GL4/GL5 gear oil for the gearbox and rear diff. Drain plug will probably be a **** to get out.

Off the top of my head so aprox,

            Engine oil- 5L.
Gearbox/diff- 5L should do them both if I remember right.
Brake fluid- 2L should be enough to flush the system and refill it.
            Coolant 7L.

If the cars been stood a while I'd have a good look at all the flexi brake pipes and suspension bushes. Front top mounts don't last long either so check them for play as well. The rear callipers are pants and may well be seized, though you can get a service kit for them.
