    Hessitant..TPS ?

so have a little problem with the throttle

when you are hard accelerating all is well. the problem is when you are cruising it feels like it is holding back, then you go harder on the gas and its fine again.

doesnt matter where in the rev range- low, medium or high it does not like to be held in 1 position. it feels like i have filled up with kangaroo juice!

its a problem that has been there a little while and has got slightly worse recently.

read up it could be a throttle swith/damper/knock sensor loose/maf

    anyone been there done that?

just had a quick look and noticed a bolt has come off the bracket holding the throttle damper. the bracket had moved slightly but still not convinced that this would be the cause of the running issue.
the car still idles fine etc

I would try to change to another TPS or just whole throtle body, quick job. Have the same issue on my S4, maybe the potmeter in the tps is worn out. My car goes like a rocket if i jerk the throtle a bit.

TPS is mostly used for boost control, almost nothing to do with fueling outside of limp mode.
Check for boost and vacuum leaks. Especially vacuum leaks.
Also pull the codes, your car might be in limp mode.

no boost leaks at all, boosts all the way to 2 bar and holds pressure well.i wouldnt of even posted if i hadnt already checked hoses/pipes. on my 6th s2 now so know the drill well

Bad Maf doenst always give a code though, atleast mine never did when it was on its way out.
Maybe try to clean it with IPA. See if that deos anything, perhaps your BMC filter (is it oil based?) case caked it in residue?
Just a guess but worth a try.

bo it was cleaned not so long ago after emptying IC of the usual oil biuld up. Having just read some threads on here i am now steering towards tps as others have had the same syptoms. TBH it idles a bit lumpy too. All the symptoms point to the tps as this seems to control idle and throttle position. So it idles lumpy and doesnt like being on cruise/part throttle only

anyone got a spare lurking around?

I told you what the TPS is being used for in Motronic. Transient enrichment does very little. It drives decently with it completely disconnected as well.
If you had any problems with your TPS you would not get more than spring boost.

MAF can be diagnosed, but you need VAG-COM for that anyway.
TPS can be as well, by looking if the position changes correctly in VAG-COM. Can be done with ignition on.

But hey, if you prefer to just swap parts until it works, you can do that too. Just don't complain that the car is expensive to maintain afterwards.

changed the maf and now running an rs2 airbox:mischeif:

but still the same...it seems fine when cold and then after its warmed up it starts again.its like its misfiring when on part throttle, then you floor it and it stutters for a second then goes like 5hit all the way to 2 bar still

                            any ideas?

mine is doing this aswell, mine feels like its lagging alot at low revs and judders, but when your going up through the gears its ok, I've came to the conclusion it could be my TPS aswell?
